The Denny Corcoran Years

The Waterford Panto Society has been making Christmas magic in Waterford City since 1985. All except one of our productions have taken place in the Theatre Royal, every year since 1985 bar one year when the Theatre was closed for renovation.

The Society was founded in 1985 by Jimmy Kelly and Padraig O’Griofa. An inspired choice of Director – Denny Corcoran, the undisputed king of variety in Waterford City – drove the society from humble beginnings in 1985 to a major annual production running over 11 shows. Denny brought so many of the attributes that made him one of Ireland’s most successful Tops producers to the family stage every Christmas.

It was Denny who taught us one important Panto lesson that we still live by today – you can’t fool children… they have to see the fairytale on the stage.
